For some of us, working from home (WFH) is a new experience. Compliments of my friend and associate, Debbie – one of my favorite bay area Real Estate agents (Compass Real Estate). With a few little BALANCE tweaks, here are 5 tips to help you swoop right in and get productive:
1. Re-purpose your Commute
A major perk of working from home is ditching the commute. Use this time in the morning for a workout, self-renewal, or family time. Establishing daily routines will help keep structure and energy to your day.
2. Location, Location, Location
Find a dedicated and comfortable spot to work that you can associate with your job and leave when you’re off the clock — that means get off the couch, and definitely out of bed.
3. Bring The Outdoors In
If you don’t have any greens in your designated work from home location, consider adding some indoor plants to create a more inviting and creative space. Plus, they make your home’s air healthier!
4. Show your face
When possible, use video over the standard conference call to help create more interactions and avoid loneliness. This will also encourage you to dress up a bit and keep up on your hygiene and beauty routines.
5. Create lists
Every morning, or the evening before, create a list of what you will deliver by the end of the day. Keep it simple – just the big items. If it’s helpful, write them down the night before so you can dive straight into work in the morning. For a paperless option, schedule it in your phone as a calendar event, using the notes section for your list.
