SF Examiner Article – National Procrastination Week: Spring Cleaning Time!

A little bit of BALANCE showed up in today’s online San Francisco Examiner. Check out the story here, written by Laurie Farr.

Excerpts:
National Procrastination Week, March 4-10, has arrived again. What a good time to think about how refreshing it is to clear out the closet clutter. Ditto for the attic, garage, shelves and garden shed. No need to think about moving, because it is easy to gain space at home. However, some people could use help in tackling the job and procrastination is just not the answer.

Hello pack rats
Clutter does create clutter. Most of us have crammed stuff in somewhere and quickly shut the door, just to make the sight of it go away. This works to a degree…until the next time that door is opened. Did you know that there are professional organizers to help? Nancy Castelli is one right here in San Francisco, owner of BalanceSF and a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers. Nancy consults on house moves, downsizing, getting the nursery sorted, making room for growing families, wardrobe advice, decluttering of all sorts, recycling and even disaster preparedness.

Chronic or situational
Nancy explains that some clients have struggled with clutter for years, eventually realizing that they cannot keep everything as they run out of space, an urban dwellers’ woe. Others are overwhelmed with their clutter due to temporary circumstances in living arrangements. Perhaps a second child has arrived, a marriage or divorce may mean consolidation of households, inheritance of large amounts of furniture calls for some careful thought, the need for a home office may arise. Regardless, there is help available, and without a judgement call.

Turning matter into energy
From old catalogs to obsolete CDs, skis to stationery supplies, we can turn matter into energy by creating space and recycling unnecessary items, creating balance in our lives and see stress go away with the mess.
